.jpg) | Piling progress monitoringA method commonly used for supervising piling progress is to count the driving impacts needed to achieve a defined penetration distance. We are able to perform this supervision. Furthermore, many of our piling rigs are fitted with a EKAL system, which performs the above supervision electronically, sending the data automatically by Internet for further analysis. It goes without saying that the experience of our operators and foremen on site is indispensable in properly assessing the situation, and for safe and technically reliable execution. |
Trimming
When piles are not installed exactly to the right height, the heads have to be trimmed. This can be performed on precast concrete piles, but also for various cast-in-situ piling systems after hardening. The reinforcement from the piles that becomes exposed in the process can be incorporated later in the construction above. Foundation companies are regularly requested to include this work in their proposals, since customers tend to view it as a logical part of the foundation activities; after all, the work is performed on the foundation company’s piles.
Voorbij Funderingstechniek’s view is that this work can be better coordinated and communicated by the building contractor. The reason has to do with the time plan; the trimming activity usually occurs after we have completed our piling work and have moved away from the construction site with our equipment. We therefore no longer have direct contact and attachment with the construction site, with the attendant risk for you and us alike of miscommunication. We believe that we and our customers should seek to avoid this miscommunication. Under normal circumstances we will therefore decline to include trimming in our proposals. We hope you understand our reasons.
