Voorbij has just finished completion of some 8000 HSP piles for a piled embankment on the Barendrecht to Rotterdam tramline project.

With 15m of very soft clay and peat, client RET needed a fast and reliable way to construct an embankment that could rise up to 8.5m over a 350m length to allow the tram route to cross the A15 motorway.

Established Dutch methods of embankment construction did not fit in with the construction programme, and early on it was realised some form of piled embankment would be needed.
